Sajugazer — Free Four Pillars (Saju) Chart Calculator

Saju Chart Calculator

The Sajugazer chart calculator converts your birth date, time, and region into a complete Four Pillars (Saju) chart. It computes your four pillars using astronomical algorithms based on the sexagenary cycle of Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, identifies your Day Master, maps Ten Stars (Sipseong) across all pillars, calculates Five Element proportions and Yin-Yang balance, identifies Fateful Stars (Sinsal), determines the 12 Stages of Energy (Unseong), and generates your full Decade Analysis (Daeun) timeline.

What the Calculator Produces

Four Pillars Table — Your Year, Month, Day, and Time pillars showing Heavenly Stems, Earthly Branches, Ten Stars, Hidden Stems, 12 Stages of Energy, Fateful Stars, and Vertical/Horizontal element relationships.

Five Element Proportions — The percentage breakdown of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water in your chart, plus Yin-Yang balance.

Decade Analysis Timeline — Ten major life periods showing the Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch governing each decade.

Yearly and Monthly Analysis — Annual and monthly energy cycles mapped against your birth chart.

After Generating Your Chart

Once your chart is generated, use the analysis tools to get detailed readings: Total Analysis for a comprehensive personality and life reading, or time-specific readings for Daily, Monthly, Yearly, and Decade analysis.

About This Saju Chart Calculator

This calculator is an educational tool designed to introduce users to the Four Pillars of Destiny (Saju, 사주 / 四柱), a classical philosophical system refined and practiced across East Asia for over a thousand years. Saju is not a predictive technology in the empirical sense — it is a symbolic framework that maps human character, tendency, and life rhythm through the lens of the traditional Chinese calendar.

The Four Pillars — Year, Month, Day, and Time — are each expressed as a pair of characters drawn from the sexagenary cycle: a Heavenly Stem (Cheongan, 천간) and an Earthly Branch (Jiji, 지지). Together, the eight characters derived from these four pillars form your birth chart. This chart is the foundation for all Saju readings available on Sajugazer.

The calculator uses astronomical algorithms to determine the precise solar term (절기, jeolgi) your birth date falls within, which sets your Month Pillar. This is a crucial distinction from simple lunar calendar conversion: Saju months follow the solar term cycle, not lunar months. The longitude of your birth location is also factored into a regional time correction, ensuring the chart reflects the true local solar position at your moment of birth.

Understanding Your Chart Results

Once your chart is generated, it displays several interconnected analytical systems drawn from the classical Myeongrihak (命理學) tradition:

Ten Stars (Sipseong, 십성) — Each Heavenly Stem in your chart is evaluated relative to your Day Master (the Heavenly Stem of your Day Pillar, which represents your core self). The relational dynamic between the Day Master's element and each other element is classified into one of ten star categories: Bigyeon (companion), Kiep (competitor), Siksin (expression), Sangwan (talent), Pyeonjae (indirect wealth), Jeongjae (direct wealth), Pyeongwan (indirect officer), Jeonggwan (direct officer), Pyeonin (indirect resource), and Jeongin (direct resource). These star types form the primary interpretive vocabulary of classical Saju and define the personality, success, love, and wealth dimensions of your chart reading.

Five Element Balance — Your chart is analyzed for the proportion of the five elements: Wood (목), Fire (화), Earth (토), Metal (금), and Water (수). No single elemental distribution is inherently superior; the balance or imbalance reflects your characteristic strengths and tendencies. An excess of one element highlights related personality traits; a missing element points to an area of potential challenge or compensatory growth.

Twelve Stages of Energy (Unseong, 운성) — The Day Master element passes through a twelve-stage life cycle within each Earthly Branch, from Birth through Peak to Decline. These stages indicate the relative strength or vitality of your Day Master in each pillar, adding important nuance to how your core self expresses its potential across the chart.

Fateful Stars (Sinsal, 신살) — Certain branch combinations in your chart activate special symbolic markers called Fateful Stars. These patterns indicate exceptional talents, recurring life themes, or particular energetic signatures. Fateful Stars are read as amplifying or modifying influences, not as deterministic fate.

Decade Analysis (Daeun, 대운) — The Decade Analysis maps the ten-year cycles that overlay your birth chart, calculated from the nearest solar term boundary to your birth date. Each decade brings a distinct Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch that interacts with your birth chart, shaping the general energy environment of that ten-year period.

How Saju Fits Into the Eastern Philosophical Tradition

Saju is one branch of a broader Chinese metaphysical tradition known as Myeongrihak (命理學) — the study of fate and cosmic reason. This tradition draws on the same intellectual foundation as I Ching (易經), Feng Shui (風水), and traditional Chinese medicine: the understanding that the natural world operates through rhythmic energetic cycles that can be observed, mapped, and used as a reflective mirror for human experience.

The philosophical premise is not that the stars or the calendar determine your life, but that the elemental and cyclical energies present at your moment of birth reflect the particular qualities of consciousness and tendency that characterize your existence. In this worldview, Saju is less a predictive tool and more a symbolic autobiography — a way of articulating through the language of classical cosmology what kind of person you are, and how you naturally tend to move through the world.

Sajugazer presents Saju analysis in this spirit: as a framework for thoughtful self-reflection, philosophical exploration, and cross-cultural curiosity. All chart readings and analysis results are symbolic in nature and should be understood as one lens among many — not as definitive statements about your future, your character, or your destiny. We encourage users to approach these readings with openness and a spirit of personal inquiry, consulting qualified professionals for any life decisions that require concrete guidance.
